Preview looks wrong
Preview differs from what you expect, or differs from what actually runs.
You see
You open Preview and it shows:
- The wrong order of operations.
- Missing layers / objects.
- Extra geometry not on your canvas.
- An unexpected path direction.
What is happening
Preview is the result of running the planner. If preview looks wrong, the planner has produced something different from what you intended.
Fix
If a layer is missing from preview
- Verify the layer's Out (output) toggle is on in the Cuts/Layers panel. Layers with Output off do not appear in preview.
- Verify the layer's mode is set (Line / Fill / Image, not blank).
- Verify the layer has objects assigned.
If preview shows extra geometry
- Tool layers normally do not output. If they appear in preview, check Settings → File & Import → Include tool layers in job bounds and the layer's Output setting.
- Virtual arrays sometimes expand more than expected if count was set wrong.
If the order is wrong
- Reorder layers in the Cuts/Layers panel (drag rows or use the reorder arrows).
- The order in the panel = the order in the preview.
- Check the Optimization Settings modal (Laser Control → Optimization...): the Order by option might be set in a way that reorders layers.
If preview is stale (does not match recent edits)
- The panel header may show Stale, refresh required. Click Refresh.
If preview shows fast preview, then a different real preview
The planner runs in stages: a quick approximation first, then the full plan. The first preview may differ. Wait for the Generating preview... state to clear before judging.
Verify it worked
- Preview matches what you expected.
- The actual job confirms, what preview showed is what the machine did.
Still stuck?
- Preview dialog reference.
- Cuts / Layers panel.
- Laser Control: Optimization settings.
- Post in the Facebook group with a project file demonstrating the issue.
