Settings, File & Import
Behavior for importing files into the project and counting tool layers in bounds.
The File & Import tab covers two specific edge cases in how Beam Bench handles imported files and tool layers.
Open it from Edit → Settings or Ctrl+,.
Fields
Allow importing to tool layers
Toggle.
Tool layers are non-output layers used for guides, image references, or other canvas-only purposes (they do not produce machine output). By default, imports go to regular cut layers, not tool layers.
When this is on, the import flow lets you target a tool layer if you choose. Useful when importing a reference image you do not want to engrave.
Default: off.
Include tool layers in job bounds
Toggle.
When calculating the bounding box of a job (used for framing, "fit to bed", and several layout operations), should tool layers be counted?
When on, the bounding box includes everything visible on the canvas, even tool-layer guides.
When off, the bounding box only counts layers that will actually output to the machine.
Default: off.
Turn on if you use tool-layer guides positioned outside the real cut bounds and want them included in framing.
